Marrakech will host for the first time in the North Africa the Ironman 70.3 triathlon on October 27, 2019.
Marrakech will offer athletes the opportunity to compete in a unique site, offering dazzling monuments such as the medina of Marrakech, the palace of Bahia, the Madrasa, the mosque and minaret of the Koutoubia, the Jemaâ el-Fna square and the Majorelle garden. It is undoubtedly a unique and different destination from all those that accompany any triathlon and an opportunity to explore Moroccan heritage.
The event will start with a 2 km loop in the waters of Lake Lalla Takerkoust, then they will embark on a 90 km cycling route, which winds through the village of Tahanaout and the green meadows of the Ourika Valley, with the snow-covered peaks of the Atlas. Participants will then embark on a 21 km loop race in the heart of the red city.
The IRONMAN 70.3 Marrakech Triathlon will offer 30 qualifying spots for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, which will take place from 28 to 29 November 2020 in Taupo, New Zealand.
